The No Guts No Glory Alternative Halloween and Supersonic Festival
Friday 28th October
Wow, what a week it's been! 4 days at Supersonic Festival in Birmingham, followed by the No Guts No Glory Alternative Halloween! I'll start with the latter....

Flyer design by Philip Harris
It's No Guts No glory's second birthday in a week (!) and we thought we'd celebrate it with the some of the friends that have made the project possible since the beginning. So, a Dinner & A Movie night was surely in order!
Ben Cottam (maker of the Exeter Cavern 's Sunday Lunch feasts) cooked up an amazing winter vegetable Chilli, and Hayley and Co. made an Apple Crumble from apples picked for us right here in Exeter by the guys at the City Fruit Harvest - an awesome local community initiative that picks unwanted fruit from the area and transforms it into Jams, Jellies and Chutneys all in aid of local causes.

Phil (right) tucking into some of 'the best chilli ever' - quoted honestly by myself.
The movie of the evening was a befitting documentary called Paradise lost. A true story of murder, religion, satanism and a questionable court system - All three parts are very much worth the watch!

The NGNG Halloween wouldn't have been complete without an exhibition of the bizarre and grotesque works of a very friendly chap called Philip Harris. Phil is a Dip Pen and Ink Illustrator from right here in devon, and has been a part of the NGNG family pretty much since the beginning. He's currently busy working on commissions for various comics and graphic novels, as well at displaying his illustrations at exhibitions around London. His most recent design for No guts No Glory is the Wrestler!
Big thanks to Hayley, Aga, Guy, Phil, Ollie and Sian for making the whole thing possible :)
Going into our third year, we're excited to bring you a whole range of non-profit community orientated events - from these here movie nights, to creative sessions, lessons, and a whole host of things that involve getting together and doing stuff - This is the first of much more to come!
The friends that surround us, here in Devon and all over the country (the guys at Get a Grip, Joel Millerchip, Becca Allen, Jack Teagle to name but a few) make this entire project possible. With our values placed in community ethics and ideas of bringing people together, we're looking forward to seeing what we can grow - not only with projects in the local area, but by getting together and collaborating on projects with the artists and friends further afield.
Watch this space!
Speaking of friends, last weekend I was invited up to stay with Kay and Sam at Get A Grip in Birmingham, for Supersonic Festival. A brilliant time was had!

I spent the Thursday and Friday with Sam in the workshop building T-shirt rails out of wooden pallets. They'd seen the one's that I made for the summer's festivals and it was a pleasure to spread the love of recycling materials and banging bits of wood together.
The evenings were spent feasting on roast dinner made by Andrew from Bangers, and folding/stapling The D.I.Y Times Issue 4 (which will be available in the NGNG shop soon!).
Saturday and Sunday was spent manning the Get A Grip shop while Kay and Sam held screen printing workshops at part of the festival. For those of you who haven't been to the Get a Grip shop yet, you really should pay it a visit! Full of screenprinted delights, from organic clothing designed by the likes of Mat Pringle, to tote bags, greetings cards and even screen printed badges! They also have an online shop :)
That's all for now. However, we've just ordered our christmas jumpers (designed by Becca Allen) and christmas cards (by Becca, Joel & Jack). Keep an eye out for more info on these!
